We have an interesting history. The beginning… neither easy nor sweet. It starts with the earthquake of 1939 that destroyed everything and took away what we wanted the most, our loved relatives. With sorrow but with the comfort from the people of Cauquenes, also known as “Cauquequinos”, we took strength from weakness and started to work the land from scratch with sorrow and effort. But with love and caring, that kind of love that only countryside people feel for the land… it seems that one could find consolation in it. 

As fate would have it, during Pedro Aguirre Cerda’s government, The Promotion Corporation for the Production, CORFO (for its acronyms in Spanish) helped to rebuild our region. Thanks to that help, together with the neighbors we started Lomas de Cauquenes Vineyard. From the beginning, the vineyard was formed by small winegrowers, who produce unique products that get the essence of their centenarian grapevines. Our beloved city, Cauquenes, was a key commercial spot and today, due to modernity, technological poles has centralized the country. However, getting inside our vineyard is a tradition and identity experience that is far from modernity and impersonalism.

Imagine to stop the time for 5 minutes in a dry growers environment, trying a tasty casserole with a homemade bread just baked and served with wine taken from the barrels. This makes Cauquenes to produce a wine with a unique character, internationally recognized and awarded. It speaks of his terroir history, of the people that gave their best to get good quality products and of a surrounding world that Lomas de Cauquenes offers.
